Use of SEO techniques
Keyword research and optimisation
I regularly researched which keywords used among my target audience, which gave me more insight on what kind of content or topics they were after. Understanding which were high-performing allowed me to create the content that they would like to see, whilst including those keywords naturally in my blog posts, titles, tags, meta description, and ultimately improving my blog’s visibility.
This helped search engines find and index my content more effectively.
Examples on how I used tags and book titles with author names as keywords to improve UX experience, keep readers engaged for longer, and efficient indexing for search engine bots.
Through Google Analytics I also learned which countries my demographic was from, which was beneficial for publishing content at the right time to gain the most reach possible - as such, I understood how to analyse data to make informed decisions.
As a result, I tailored my content around that Spanish-speaking demographic by sharing relevant news and content, giveaways that would include those countries, and bringing awareness to topics that could be of interest, which would spark curiosity and lead to more engagement.
2. Content quality
Content quality was another essential aspect for search engine optimisation, and so I made sure to write in-detail reviews that would create further discussion in the comment section, and provide original and engaging content that would bring value to my followers
This would help search engine bots place my blog higher organically, as it always prioritises websites that would bring good and informative content to the user.
I would often bring a range of sections as to bring variety to my website whilst keeping it relevant and engaging for the audience, using both regular sections such as book hauls and my own original sections.
Other SEO techniques I applied
Internal linking - I would link other posts found in my blog in more recent entries, such as previous reviews or related posts. This helped search engines understand the structure of my website and improved navigation for users.
Backlinks - My blog would be mentioned at other sites through which I gained more visibility in a position of trust. As my site was linked in other blogs with a good amount of following and engagement, the target audience was more likely to take a look at my site as the recommendation came from a place that they trusted. This was done through networking with other bloggers and building relationships which have lasted to this day.
Alt-text - I added descriptive text or captions for images, which enhanced my SEO, as it helps search engines further understand the content and improve my blog’s accessibility.
